Description
Our Woollyback socks are knitted from thick, warm ‘Shetland-type’ yarn (i.e. a yarn created from a mixture of wools that resemble a Shetland yarn in texture but which are not sourced from Shetland). The yarn has a lovely quality and knits into fantastic socks. By using this yarn we’ve been able to reduce the nylon content of these socks to just 10% and still keep a cushioned sole and a ribbed leg.
We have just a few pairs of our Woollyback socks left in stock now.
- Bog — deepest peaty green almost brown
- Bramble — a lovely purple with a hint of grey
- Broom — a mustardy yellow with flecks of red and green
- Storm — a soft greyish-blue
These calf-length, cushioned-soled socks are just as comfortable as our popular Salted Wool Socks, and are possibly even thicker and warmer!
PLEASE NOTE: These socks are generously sized and tend to run large. I am a size 5 (UK) and wear the small size over another pair of cotton socks but they are still quite roomy. If you prefer a closer fit you’ll prefer the Salted Wool Socks.
Good to know:
- fibre: 90% wool plus 10% nylon for structure, stretch and stability
- made in the UK — knitted in Leicestershire, the historical heartland of England’s sock industry
- Two adult sizes
- Small (4-7 / 36-41)
- Medium (8-10 / 42-45)
- Small (4-7 / 36-41)
- Recommended care: Handwash or in a gentle wool cycle at 30C (if they seem very large, an initial wash at 40C in a wool cycle or short cycle will shrink them a little bit)
- Do NOT tumble dry. If you put them in a tumble dryer they will felt and go hard…..so don’t do it!! Re-shape whilst damp.
