Description
This year our Howgill Socks are available in a brand new range of four gorgeously rich colours. The wool yarn — our classic bluefaced leicester sourced from local Cumbrian and Yorkshire Dales farms — has been overdyed twice, resulting in a marvellous depth of colour.
From the intense blue of ‘River’ to the subtle depths of ‘Ivy’, the rich berry red of ‘Hawthorn’ to that wonderful deep orange of autumnal ‘Beech’ leaves, these are classy socks made for a life outdoors. They are supremely comfortable and robust and will warm you up just looking at them!
Our socks are made for us in Leicestershire, at a family firm. We add a hint of nylon to our 100% wool yarn to give the socks a comforting cushioned sole and enough stretch to stay up but not be too tight. We are very proud of these socks and get lots of lovely compliments on them.
NB: Our socks are not pre-shrunk. The first wash will shrink them to a more correct size, however they can sometimes run large. You may find they are best worn over a thinner pair of socks.
- Fibre: 80% British wool, plus 20% nylon for structure, stretch and comfort;
- Wool type: Bluefaced Leicester wool sourced from farms in and around the Howgill fells;
- Made in: Leicestershire, the historic heartland of England’s sock industry;
- Recommended care: Handwash or gentle wool cycle at 30C. Do NOT tumble dry. If you put them in a tumble dryer they will shrink and go hard…..so don’t do it!! Re-shape whilst damp.
