British Wool Yarn
My British wool yarns are all produced from fleece which I collect annually from a network of farms in the Yorkshire Dales and Cumbria.
Sheep breeds include my classic mainstay – Bluefaced Leicester – supplemented by Hebridean, Black Welsh Mountain, Shetland and Ryeland. A few other breeds occasionally creep into my stash, including Lleyn, Texel and Cheviot, plus the odd Badgerface and some beautiful Cumbrian alpaca.
My yarn is spun in West Yorkshire and dyed in the Scottish Borders to my own bespoke palette.
Most of the yarn is spun as fine singles for fabric weaving, but it is eminently suitable for fine lace knitting and for tapestry. Occasionally I produce 2-fold yarns that equate to a light double-knit in size.
“Your yarns are even better than I could imagine! They are gorgeous…so subtle and refined.” Jennifer B.
